Climbing Highest Peak of Rocky Mountains

June 2022 – End of June, together with my younger son Troels, i climbed the very accessible Mt. Elbert in the Rocky Mountains near Leadville, CO. With 4.401 meters or 14.440 feet, Mt. Elbert is the highest peak in Rocky Mountains, highest peak in Colorado and second highest peak in continental US (after Mt. Whitney at 4.421 meters or 14.505 feet in California).

We hiked the South Mt. Elbert Trail in and out, starting from lower trailhead. Total roundtrip is 18 kilometers or 11 miles with 4.850 feet of elevation to be gained. We used 7 hours before being back at the parking lot.
