Macro Photography

July 2020 – I have during the last couple of months played with macro photography of common Danish flowers. I have had a lot of fun doing so and I am quite impressed what can be achieved using simpe photo stacking techniques as implemented by Helicon software.

All these pictures were taken with Nikon D850 camera and Nikor Micro 200 mm 4.0 lens. Helicon Remote was used for controlling the camera from the computer and Helicon Focus 7 for focus stacking. Finally Luminar 4 was used for editing.

The pictures in full resolution can be found here.

Dandelions

Dandelions are especially impressive, and once they turn into blowballs they become even more impressive. They are easy to find and they have plenty of contrast for making beautiful focus stacked pictures.

Clovers

Clovers are also easy to find and often make beautiful focus stacked pictures. Here are a few ones.

Carduus

Carduus is another huge family of easy to focus stack flowers. Although they are not that easy to handle!

Mullein

Mulleins er especially beautiful.

Papaver

Papavers are difficult to handle as they flowers withers very rapidly once picked. They are also very fragile, but once succeeding taking focus stacked pictures of these flowers, the results are amasing.

Other Danish common flowers

And many other flowers are also easy to focus stack.
