July 2021 - I have been to Iceland many times, but never for three weeks in one trip. I am a fan of Iceland, I love Iceland, Iceland has so many things to offer. Below I have shared pictures from some of the amazing days I had in Iceland during this visit. Day One -... Continue Reading →

Dobbiaco 2020

Early January 2020 - This was my 7th trip to the Alps for flying hot air balloons, and the first year where we were three Danish balloons attending the annual and very cozy Dolomiti Balloonweek. The other two Danish balloons were flown by Philip and Christoffer Mundt. The weather was just fantastic. Six days with... Continue Reading →

All the way to Nome

September 2019 - Lennart Wahl and I flew to Alaska for flying my Super Cub for a week. Weather forecast was very disappointing but somehow we managed to follow the patches of good weather around Alaska. We ended up flying all the way to Nome and had stunning weather all days except one. Day one... Continue Reading →

Sierra Leone

February 2018 - Ten days in Sierra Leone. Far from being the most visited country in Africa, but absolutely worth a visit. Nice and friendly, no problems whatsoever, and lots of interesting things to see.

Endelave Cubs 2017

August 2017 - A few pictures from the annual cub fly in on Endelave Island, a tiny island more or less at the center of Denmark. Mostly cubs from Denmark come to this event, with a few cubs coming from Sweden and Germany in between.

US Solar Eclipse

August 2017 - This was my 4th Solar Eclipse, my 2nd with a cloud-free sky. With 100.000+ other solar eclipse chasers we drove into sleepy Madras, Oregon, a tiny town right on the centerline of the solar eclipse. On August 11, 1999 I saw my first solar eclipse from southern Germany. The weather was rather... Continue Reading →

Hot Air Ballooning at FL230

December 2016 - I took my hot air balloon OY-SOK to Flight Level 230 (23.000 feet) on a flight from Tølløse (Denmark) to 50 km. north of Berlin. Total distance flown ended up at 300.4 km. My friend Jan Bernburg flew with me in the basket and my son Søren Jøhnk drove the crew car.

Ecuadorian Volcanoes

Pictures from a stunning trip to Ecuador together with my son Søren. Our goal was to climb the volcanoes Iliniza Norte, Pasachoa, Rucu Pichincha, Cotopaxi and Chimborazo (furthest point from the center of the earth). Only the top of Chimborazo (6310 meters) wasn't reached as we had to return 600 meters from the top because... Continue Reading →
