November 2023 – Together with best friend Frode Kjems Uhre i visited Bhutan for six days. The main objective with the visit was for Frode to do a more than 30 minute and a deeper than 6 meter scuba dive in Bhutan. This was done in less than half a day so we had plenty of time for hiking and exploring the beautiful country.
And huge thanks to our guide Tshering Dorji for showing us his beautiful country 🙂
First day, arrival into Paro by plane from Bangkok, meeting our guide and exploring Thimphu.

On the second and the third day we hiked up to Jigmelang Tsho Lake at 3,850 meters above sea level. And further, I hiked up to 4,100 meters above sea level while Frode relaxed in the tents that our guides had set up for us. Next morning Frode went diving before we hiked back. The hike up and down was really beautiful.

On the fourth day in Bhutan we hiked from Chelela Pass, highest drivable pass in Bhutan, up to a local summit called Kila Gung Karpo.

Last full day we visited Tigers Nest, probably the most visited tourist site in Bhutan. For good reasons! We hiked all the way up from the trail head, including three temples above Tigers Nest.

During the visit we also had the chance to see local sports…

And finally, the last day before our evening plane back to Bangkok gave us time to visit local sights in Paro, e.g. the National Museum and Rinpung Dzong…

Buy buy Bhutan, what an interesting visit 🙂
