January 2023 – We – my parents and I – should have been to Peru for ten days, but because of the unrest in the country we changed to Ecuador. We decided to fly into Quito and home again from Guayaquil ten days later, this way we optimized our trip with KLM’s Amsterdam – Quito – Guayaquil – Amsterdam route. After all, my parents were 78 and 79 years old at time of this trip.
We started with a few days in Centro Histórico de Quito before we got our rental car and planed our route from day to day. We ended up driving from Quito to Baeza (where we stayed in a jungle lodge for two nights), to Puyu and then on to Baños (where we also stayed two nights), on to Rio Bamba (where we stayed north of the city for one night), on to Guayaquil and all the way to La Libertad (where we stayed for one night), up along the coast to Puerto Cayo (where we stayed in different beach hotels for a couple of nights), and finally back to Guayaquil (from where we flew home after visiting Parque de las Iguanas (aka Parque Bolivar).
I of cause and as you can probably tell from the pictures loved to be with my parents for ten days 🙂
