September 2022 – After flying around in north eastern Alaska for a week with my friend Michael, my friend flew home to and my dad came over from Denmark. My dad and I then had a week to fly my Cessna 185 back to California, back to Byron inland from San Francisco where I have an hanger agreement.
Our flying started at Lake Hood (PALH) in Anchorage, Alaska and ended in Byron (C83) inland from San Francisco, Californien. With stops in Tatitlek (PAKA), Cordova (CKU), Yakutat (PAYA), Juneau (PAJN), Sitka (PASI), Ketchikan (PAKT), Paine Field (KPAE), Seaside (56S), Gold Beach (4S1), Samoa Field (O33) og Lampson Field (1O2). Close to 2,000 nautical miles over 5 days. With overnight stops in rainy Juneau, the capital in Alaska, beautiful Ketchikan, the most southerly bigger city in Alaska, Bothell near Paine Field in Washington, where my friends John and Becky live and finally Gold Beach, a tiny cozy beach town in Oregon.
My plan was to do a stop in Canada, but the weather was perfect with clear sky and a really nice tail wind of up to 40 knots at 11,500 feet. So we flew from Ketchikan to Paine Field in just 4:30 hours.
