March 2022 – From Tracy just inland from San Francisco to Houston in my Cessna 185. Together with my son Søren. Seven days of cross country flying, 25 hours airborne and almost 3.000 nautical miles flown (with plenty of tail wind).
With landings at Minden-Tahoe (KMEV), South Valley/Salt Lake City (U42), Grand Junction (KGJT), Lake County (KLXV), Colorado Springs (KCOS), Silver West (C08), San Luis Valley (KALS), El Paso (KELP), Presidio Lely (KPRS), Del Rio (KDRT), Mc Allen Miller (KMFE), Brownsville (KBRO), Mustang Beach (KRAS) and finally at David Wayne Hooks/Houston (KDWH).
Severe CAVOK with almost no clouds detected throughout the entire trip until the very last flight when it became overcast at 3000 ft. with approaching thunderstorms. Our trip took us over Sierra Nevada mountains into Lake Tahoe, across Nevada into Utah and Salt Lake City, over the Rocky Mountains at 15.500 ft. into Colorado Springs, over Great Sand Dunes National Park and White Sands National Monument south to El Paso in westernmost Texas, along Rio Grande and the Mexican Border around Big Bend National Park all the way to Boca Chica with SpaceX at the Gulf Of Mexico, and finally north along the Texan beaches to Houston.
My plane is now with a mechanic shop at David Wayne Hooks airport close to Houston where it will gets in annual inspection and be put in a hangar until next trip.
