Malerweg

August 2021 – Together with best friends – Carsten and Ida – we flew down to Pirna in Germany where the famous Malerweg starts and ends. Malerweg is one of the most picturesque hikes in the country, 116 kilometers of diverse walking split into 8 stages.

We only had four days, so not enough time to walk the entire trail. After landing at the local glider field in Pirna we took a taxi to Stadt Wehlen from where we hiked stage 1, 2, 4, most of 7 and most of 8. Stadt Wehlen is a beautiful small town lying on both sides of the river Elbe and Malerweg pases through both sides. Stadt Wehlen is therefore a very good place to stay if a single base is preferred.
