Alaska Ski Flying

March 2017 – Not my first time on skies, but definitely my first time in an airplane with skies. A very good friend of mine – Dieter Betz – and I had ten days in Alaska with my Super Cub mounted with skies. March in Alaska is perfect for ski flying, still winter with plenty of snow, but also long enough days to play.

First day, getting my Super Cub out of the hangar. And first trip to Christensen Lake close to Talkeetna.

A day of fun near Knik Glacier…

Flying up Alaska Range close to Denali…

Flying up to Yukon River and chasing the Iditarod Run. With visits and stays at Ruby and Mc. Grath.

Glacier Landing at Don Lee’s hut…

And finally, back into the hangar with Super Cub and back to Anchorage after a fantastic trip…
